Body Odor

Odors can be sooo embarrassing generally, no matter the kind. This is caused by dirtiness most times and the under arms(arm pits) are the biggest smell depots on the body in my opinion, and so that’s the part that I’d focus today’s post on. I know that some people don’t know that they smell because most times you can’t smell yourself but when you see people acting strangely around you, ask someone close to you if you have an odor. Apart from dirtiness, body odor can be caused by a few other things eg stress, illness, alcohol, some foods you eat, medication and even hormonal changes.
I’m going to tell you some simple remedies that can be used to curb this issue using natural products. I tried to limit this list to ingredients that can easily be gotten in Nigeria.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar- This is one of the best replacements for deodorant. Pour some in a bowl, dip a cotton ball in it and wipe your armpits. Or put equal amounts of ACV and water in a spray bottle and spray on your armpits. You can also put ACV in your bath water if you have general body odor. ACV is acidic so you have to be careful just in case your skin is sensitive. You can test it on a small part of your skin and if equal parts burn you, please add more water to the mix.
2.Baking Soda- Good for armpit odor. After bathing, Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Leave it on for a while and then rinse off with clean water. You can also make a paste of the baking soda with water and add tea tree oil to it.
Lemon- The acidic properties of lemon helps to kill the bacteria that causes smell
Slice a lemon and rub it gently on your armpits. Alternatively, squeeze the juice from 1-2 fresh lemons and apply it directly to your armpits.
You can also pour some lemon juice on a clean towel and rub it gently on your armpits after taking a bath.
You can also add lemon juice to a cup of water and use as a natural spray or deodorant for your armpits.
You don’t need to wash the lemon off because it has an awesome smell and will serve as a natural deodorant.
3. Rose Water- This is a very soothing remedy. Apply some to your armpits or apply a few drops to your bath water and bask in the fragrance.
4. Tomato Juice/Pulp- Extract the pulp of a tomato and apply it directly on your armpit. Leave it on for 15minutes then clean off. Also, you can add the tomato juice to your bath water and bathe with it.
5. You can also use essential oils like rosemary oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oils. You can apply them directly to your armpits or mix them with water and spray on your armpit. Note that essential oils should be measured in drops because of their potencies. You can test if you react to these oils by testing the mixture on a small part of your skin first.
NOTE: These remedies don’t work overnight so you should be patient and diligent will doing them. You can also use more than one method.
-Avoid too much of certain foods like garlic, onion
-Avoid smoking
-Avoid wearing dirty clothes. Wash your undies and clothes with clean water and detergent
-Avoid wearing clothes that make you sweat.
-Bathe regularly with anti-baterial soaps. Better yet, use soaps with all natural ingredients. African black soap is a total package.
-Drink plenty water to avoid dehydration.
-Shave your armpits regularly.
-Maintain a healthy balanced diet including green leafy vegetables and fruits.
-Wear sweat absorbing clothes.
-Visit a doctor if these remedies don’t help
-Help someone today that you know that has body odor. Don’t be shy, share these remedies with them.
I hope that these help. Have an awesome weekend.

Hello darling, My name is Jennifer and I am glad that you are in my space. I help people take care of their hair and skin using natural products so that they can have a healthy hair and glowing skin. I am also a talkative and I am an 'almost' on air personality. Please, don't laugh at me, I am just being truthful. That dream will soon come true...can I get an amen? I know you are wondering what the correlation is between an almost OAP and a beautypreneur, don't worry, I will give you the gist! When I decided to 'return natural' with my hair, I was almost discouraged because of the prices of the hair care products that I had to buy. I began to research and before long, I was making my own products and my hair was thriving! I decided to start producing hand made products that will be affordable and will make being a naturalista easy. I wasn't sure how it would go but it has been an awesome journey so far. As for my skin products, I have always been big on making my own bathing soap with mixtures that my mother taught me. I told myself that it would be wrong of me to glow alone and so I started making hand made body products for my darling customers that are my HF slayers! I also had to throw in other organic/natural products that are usually scarce and expensive so that they become readily available and most especially, affordable. My goal is to help you achieve your hair and skin goals without breaking the bank! I really hope that you achieve that from this space and I look forward to connecting with you personally. Don't forget that love makes the world go round; don't keep information to yourself. Be charitable and share our posts, you never can tell who needs to read it. Thank you. xxx Jennifer.
